The service supports monitoring, flood management and research, and enables public participation in model development.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The water situation can be monitored in pilot sites across Finland. It is highly welcomed if as many citizens as possible would like to test the service by uploading their own photos into it. This will help the AI to read the images even better.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"366\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-29632 img-responsive img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vesi.fi\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/tekoalyn-tulkinta-valokuvan-lumesta-jaasta-ja-vedesta-1024x366.png\" alt=\"AI identifies amount and location of snow, water and ice in photo.\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-content__paragraph\">The service will classify and segment images and automatically remove low-quality ones. The classification tells you the probability of ice, snow or water in the photo with about 95% certainty. However, the model for estimating the amount and location of ice, snow and water still needs to be improved to become operational.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-content__paragraph\">On this website, you can see how artificial intelligence recognizes ice and snow in streams and rivers of water. You can try our service with your own photo. More than 300,000 game camera images in around 100 different locations have been analyzed explored to develop the models in use.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-editor-content__paragraph\">\u201cWhen will Ice Break\u201d service has been developed by Profetia Solutions OY, AVESTOA &amp; the Finnish Environment Institute, in cooperation with Finnish Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment.
